Scott Sarjeant, Chief Organizer

Scott has been involved in the Canadian energy industry for over 40 years. He was a co-founder of AltaGas, a major Canadian midstream company where he was in charge of many functions, including acquisitions, corporate development, and marketing gas, NGL and electricity. Scott also gained experience from working in Canadian exploration and production companies, service companies, as well as in the corporate finance industry. Educational accomplishments include an MBA from the Ivey Business School.

Climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) is a major world challenge. Western Canada is home to the Canadian oil and gas industry, which is Canada’s largest industrial sector. Canada’s 2024 GHG emissions were 685 MT and the oil and gas sector was responsible for 30%. Oil and gas producers must do their part if Canada is to achieve its Net Zero goal. Most of Canada’s oil and gas production comes from the province of Alberta. Therefore it is important to track the progress of Alberta CCS projects towards reducing Canadian CO2 emissions.
